Four Types Of Equipment You'll Need For Your Sandwich Shop

If you have been considering opening a sandwich shop, now is a great time to do it. With so many sandwiches being consumed, your business is bound to be a success. Before you get started, however, you'll need to have all the right equipment.

Here are four types of equipment you'll need for your sandwich shop.

Sandwich Grill

If you plan to serve grilled sandwiches at your sandwich shop, you'll want to make sure you have a commercial-grade sandwich grill. The ones that work the best contain removable upper and lower grill plates. Having removable plates will make them much easier to wash, which can be done in a commercial dishwasher. Some grills also come with an adjustable thermostat.

Toaster

Many sandwich enthusiasts prefer to have their bread toasted, which is why it's important to invest in a commercial-grade 4-slice toaster. Some of the features you'll want to look for when buying your toaster include:

  • A browning control knob with LED indicators
  • Extra wide slots (for bagels and thick breads)
  • Slide-out crumb tray for easy cleanup

A chrome-brushed pop-up toaster will work well in your sandwich shop.

Meat Slicer

Many people like some meat on their sandwich. In fact, most Americans like either turkey or ham. Since meat is such a popular sandwich filling, it makes sense to have a meat slicer in your sandwich shop. This is especially true if you are going to be serving deli-style sandwiches or submarine sandwiches that often contain cold cuts.

Besides meat, these slicers also come in handy for slicing tomatoes. The meat slicer you choose depends on how much meat you think you'll be cutting. There are different types of meat slicers to choose from, including entry level slicers and heavy-duty ones.

Food Holding Equipment

If you want to keep your food nice and warm, you are going to want to invest in some food holding equipment. Some examples include:

  • Tabletop warmers - this type of warmer keeps meats nice and hot
  • Heat lamps - usually found right on the countertop, these warmers keep sandwiches warm
  • Soup warmer - if you plan on serving soup at your sandwich shop, a soup warmer is a must-have

By having a sandwich grill, toaster, meat slicer, and food holding equipment, you will be well on your way to running a successful sandwich shop.
